Philippians 1

And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, 10 so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ,
This encourages me to pray and study the Bible in a more genuine manner. If I take these two seriously then it'll lead to a transformation of the heart which will in turn logically separate my biased experience/opinions from theology.

12 Now I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that what has happened to me has actually served to advance the gospel.
Like Paul I should look for ways to demonstrate my faith even in situations involving financial burdens, family conflict, social struggles etc. Every now and again I'm put in situation in which I have the opportunity to preach the gospel but it's in scenarios i'm uncomfortable or unpreffered. I need to acknowledge that wherever i'm placed whether it in a prison like Paul or on the train to work, God wants me to serve him faithfully and joyfully.

29 For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for him
Paul's relationship and understanding of God was so deep that he knew that there is no other reason to live except to exalt God's glory. Suffering isn't something that us Christians should pursue but rather, living for him despite the temptations and persecution throws at us. One of the benefits of suffering is that it helps us to forget about materialistic comforts and allow it to build up our character.
