43 But the centurion wanted to spare Paul’s life and kept them from carrying out their plan. He ordered those who could swim to jump overboard first and get to land. 
Most of us would probably tremble or become bitter if we've become an official prisoner of a vast and powerful empire. However, Paul being Christlike utilised his opportunities to imitate his saviour everywhere he went full time. No doubt his actions and beliefs was the sole reason for why a gentile with such high military position gave Paul respect. Because of this, Julius saved his life which preserved Paul for his later ministry in rome.
