(9-10) But he said to me, “My grace is efficient for you, for my power if made perfect in weakness.” Therefore i will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. That is why for Christs sake, i delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships in persecutions in difficulties. For when i am weak, then i am strong.
Paul lived through some sort of sickness/disability throughout his missionary life, we do not know what it is but we know it was a hindrance. In this way, he was continually encouraged to rely on God rather than medicinal remedies, it consistently reminded him of humility. These struggles developed into perseverance to push on God’s gospel when life seems to go against us.
(21) I am afraid that when i come again my God will humble me before you, and i will be grieved over many who have sinned earlier and have not repented of the impurity, sexual sin and debauchery in which they have indulged.
With Corinth being infamous for pagan lifestyle, Paul had a fear that the church might have dishonest with him and tolerated cultural practises. We are to be imitators of Christ, setting an example to the rest of society.
