Pray and Be Alone With God - Paul Washer

* Luke 11:1. It's interesting to note that the disciples never came to Jesus and never asked him how to preach, cast out demons etc. Much rather they actually asked him how to pray. They observed that in all the things Jesus had done whether it would be performing miracles, the way Jesus prayed had caught their attention the most.
* You can't fake prayer. Jesus was a man of prayer and when he prayed people could see a difference between religion and a relationship
* If prayer was so important to the son of God how much more important should we make it to our lives. We may ask "why does Jesus pray so much?", the answer isn't complicated. Jesus, literally and just simply prayed because he loved his father
* Luke 5:16 says that Jesus would often slip away to the wilderness and pray. How do I slip away?  Netflix? Impulsive masturbation? Facebook?
* I'll know when I'm walking with God, when I slip away TO HIM. when I'm stressed, overworkedi should be finding relief. How often do i find relief in Jesus?
* Sometimes I can prioritise the study of theology so much that I spend more time studying God than i am talking to him.
* Luke 6:12-13 Jesus prayed for the whole night on a mountain. When finished he called his disciples and chose 12 of them to be his apostles. How often do i spend a lengthy amount of time to discern Gods will for my important decision? How often do i wrestle with God until he wins. I should overcome obstacles by struggling in prayer
* To practice the presence of God is by intentionally spending private time with him.
* When we don't pray habitually, it is either because we are not passionate for the advancement of the kingdom or we feel like it can be advanced through the power of the flesh
* Jesus although God was absolutely dependant upon the working of the holy spirit. He was "lead" out into the wilderness. His ministry was sensitive to the holy spirit because he knew God and what he wanted
* Jesus is the most dependant person in history. He withdraws himself to the wilderness and prayed. It was his dependance up in God that wrought the obedience and victory
* We often tell God that we are too busy to pray because theres so much ministry to do. "I have so much work, so much activity to do today, I must pray at least three hours or I will never get done" - Martin Luther
* If a church should hire a pastor, they should ask him how long he prays for. How long does he meditate, go away into secret prayer
* The most important thing for us Christians to do is to seek God. Be in his presence
