Hebrews 7
(18) The former regulation is set aside because it was weak and useless (19) (for the law made nothing perfect), and a better hope is introduced, by which we draw near to God.
The law was meant to point out my sin rather than make me a better person. Contributing to Church community or contributing to Cape Town Missionary trip are God honouring although it still cannot give me a right standing with God on my own two feet. However, while we are tainted with sin we still can draw nearer to God by studying and meditating on scripture in addition to making it our highest authority.
