It is tempting to think of our enemies as evil (or having evil motives), justifying our own prejudices. However Paul understood them as he acknowledged that many of these Christian hating populous weren't after a greedy goal but genuinely erroneous in their convictions. After all, Paul himself used to be one of them.
30 The commander wanted to find out exactly why Paul was being accused by the Jews. So the next day he released him and ordered the chief priests and all the members of the Sanhedrin to assemble. Then he brought Paul and had him stand before them.
