2 Corinthians 8
Paul writes to the Corinthians about the Macedonian Church. He was pleased with the Macedonians, despite their apparent poverty they still had a missional centred attitude and gave financial support. Paul brings this back to the gospel and reminds the readers that though Christ was rich being the son of God, He came and suffered on earth for our sake. Later in the chapter, Paul mentions Titus who had just come back from Corinth after roasting and sorting out the false teachers issues. He commends him and trusts him enough to send him back to the Corinthians so he could gather the finances for the poor in Jerusalem.
From the chapter, I'm reminded that tithing shouldn't be obligational and that God is the giver of all my blessings. I'm not really as committed as I should be as rent increased this year. Excuses. Have to budget more.
Prayer/response:
- pray before I send tithes that God will soften my heart
