1 Corinthians 11

I had trouble understanding this chapter in regard to head coverings but this is the first time it has been made clear to me. In Corinth culture, a woman with covered head symbolised a subordinate relationship to her husband. This wasn't a complete necessity but Paul states that cultural symbols if in line of Godly character should honour male and female roles including head coverings, they should be respected. This is why Paul was upset and discouraged men for wearing head coverings for it suggested a reversal of Godly gender roles. Men should be submissive to Christ, women to their husbands (along the lines of scripture, women must always submit to God first). I shouldn't forget that Jesus sets an example for us because even he submitted His father despite painful circumstances.

Paul also addressed rumours that there was division in the church. When we are together unity, we glorify God. Despite our numerous differences, our unity is evident that God is graceful to all His children, King Jesus has come and He will come again.

Prayer/response:
- Cheil continue to build up men into spiritual leaders. Give us humility
- Provide me with opportunities to share the gospel in tafe
- turn to scripture for my trials first, people second
- help out Suzanne and Annaliz, if you allow it please let them take not just LG but also you more seriously
- help me take my prayer life more seriosuly
