1 Timothy 2

5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time. 
People who generally don't study their Bibles have the possibility of adapting a misconception about their relationship with Jesus. Two years ago, I believed God wanted me to aspire towards my own contentment and that putting Him as 2nd or 3rd place was perfectly fine. I used critical thinking and common sense to justify my incorrect theology, reality was that I was my own God. If I serve Jesus then I submit to his teachings and not my own whether it makes me uncomfortable or not. It's verses like these that make me so grateful to own a study Bible to correct my feeble mind. John 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me"
